With globalisation
it has become difficult for joint family to survive. The children
have to go out due to their careers. As a result they are not
in a position to look after their parents.
Some times there are differences between daughter in-law and mother
in-law due to generation gap. So they are at peace if they stay
separate.
Bachelors and Spinsters prefer an old age home.
Winters
abroad are chilly.
Bedriddem
and chronic patients can best be served in old age home.

In
his classic play NATASAMRAT Shri V.V. Shirwadkar depicts the tragedy
of an old couple who give away their lifetime savings to their two
married children, a son and a daughter whom they love profoundly.
They expect to spend the rest of their life with their grandchildren,
alternating their stay with the son and the daughter. Things, however,
prove to be different. |
The husband,
who in his own right was a great theatre personality in his heydays,
has now to live with his wife in an outhouse, unloved and uncared
for, since the children, with their new lifestyle, have no time to
spare for their parents.
The situation mentioned above need not be considered exceptional.
In fact, worse cases have emerged in our interviews with prospective
inmates.
Such unfortunate people too have a right to live with dignity. Society
owes this to them. |

Senior
citizens are entitled to a better deal in terms of shelter, food recreation
facilities, regular health check-ups and above all a cordial ambience.
At VIJAYA we endeavor to meet the above requirements and try
to provide much more at a reasonable cost. The concept of Vijaya started
in the year 2003 with a view to providing the needs of elders who
by force of circumstances are denied their family life. To them VIJAYA
is a rest place away from home where they can spend the rest of their
lives with dignity and respect. VIJAYA is open to all sections
of society, irrespective of religion caste or creed. Admission is
need-based. The charges are kept to a minimum. A few sponsor donated
seats will be allotted free of charge (or at a subsidised rate) to
the financially weak. |
